Helping HANS

The HANS Sport II is a smaller, lighter, less expensive version of the famous HANS (Head And Neck Support) device. Molded from a renewably sourced DuPont Zytel RS polyamide by HiPer Technology of Lawrence, KS, it’s 30% lighter than the HANS Sport I. This greatly reduces accelerative forces. Plus, the new design has a smaller, rounded collar that should make ingress/egress from the vehicle easier.
HiPer Technology worked with DuPont Performance Polymers to create a new grade of Zytel RS that passed all national and international safety standards. This means a carbon fiber/glass fiber-reinforced polyamide with better chemical and moisture resistance that meets the tensile strength, tensile modulus, flex modulus, impact strength and elongation requirements of a racing application. Unlike one of the more than 140,000 HANS Devices that have been sold since the device came to market in 1990, however, features formerly added to the base structure have been integrated into the design.
