In A Heartbeat: The Missing Episode
Friday, January 4, 2013 at 12:00AM By Christopher A. Sawyer
Cars In Context TV host and TVD friend John Clor used to host a local cable access show called In a Heartbeat on which I appeared several times. My last appearance, on June 28, 2012, looked at the benefits of diesel power, and the efficiency and livability of VW’s luxury SUV, the Touareg. Unfortunately, this episode was never put up on this site due to technical difficulties with the DVD, and was forgotten.
As readers of The Virtual Driver know, John Clor has moved on to a new show, Cars In Context TV (which has its own You Tube channel), and I have appeared on that program many times. (Those episodes will be aired here in the coming weeks.) However, the diesel episode haunted both John and me, and we never gave up hope that it could be saved.
Thanks to the hard work and ingenuity of the staff at Grosse Pointe, Michigan’s War Memorial Television (WMTV, the station that broadcasts these programs) and our intrepid web development director, the lost episode of In a Heartbeat has been saved. If anything, this incident proves three things: 1) perseverance pays off, 2) it’s never too late to finish a project, and 3) yours truly really has to start working out and watching what he eats. They say the camera puts on 10 lb, but that doesn’t explain where the other I-won’t-say-how-many pounds came from.
